The theme for our June story slam was Overdoing It. We heard stories about the pitfalls of being an overachiever, a difficult hike in 90-degree heat, the constant chaos of raising five children, and even one about doing a bit too much to celebrate the freedom of getting out of jail. Our winner was Vi Mayen-Abreu, who shared a story their aunt and sister going full “Karen” to get into an amusement park.

Vi won an exclusive York Story Slam-branded journal from our friends at Story Supply Co and earned a spot in our Grand Slam in November. Vi (right) is pictured here with this month’s MC and York Story Slam producer JJ Sheffer.
